    Ingredients: 1 cup rice 4 cups milk 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste) A pinch of salt 1 cinnamon stick 3-4 cardamom pods (crushed) 1/4 cup grated coconut (optional) Water (as needed) Instructions: Wash the Rice: Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Boil the Rice: In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the washed rice. Cook the rice until it's about 70-80% done. You want it slightly undercooked at this stage. Drain the Rice: Once the rice is partially cooked, drain the water and set the rice aside. Prepare the Milk: In a separate pot, bring the milk to a boil. Add the partially cooked rice to the boiling milk. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the rice cook in the milk. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
